Some advice for inducees
A year ago today we were getting settled in the hospital and Amanda’s induction had began. We’d been trying to get her on the induction list for the past three days so when we called (at 5am) and they said they had space we made the mad dash to the hospital and skipped the part where we had breakfast. Once there Amanda had to wait fourteen hours to eat anything. So; If you’re going to get induced, have some food first.
Breakfast Chatter
Ijah’s chatter is taking on new and interesting shapes. He’s making noise all the time now and although he hasn’t advanced beyond his vocabulary that we recognize, some other words are starting to seem like maybe… On our trip it was “elevator”, this morning it was “diaper”.
He’s going to be able to make some pretty interesting sentences here soon I think
In case you didn't know.
Ijah is officially walking…like across the room walking. I have yet to capture it on video. But it happens…it happen even more if there is a dog in the room. He loves dogs.
Another first.
First sucker…pretty sure he’s more excited about this than walking. I’m just glad he kind of tossed it on the way home, eliminating the need for me to pry it out of his sticky fingers…
By the way, getting back into the blogging groove here, so forgive the absence and know that we will be posting more
Thanks for you support!
The "f" word

I don't normally approve of food-face kid pictures. This is my exception
We don’t use the “f” word in our house. We haven’t been able to for a while. We discovered some time ago that Elijah understands it and responds to it. To some degree we’re really, really proud that he’s able to discern word meaning and association, in the other; it’s a little difficult when we drop the “f-bomb” in front of him because it totally changes his behavior. He stops what he’s doing and will refuse to do anything else. It’s like it flips a switch in his brain. The only time we can say it any more is once he’s eaten enough that we’re satisfied. Then he’s allowed to have a treat and the “f” word taboo is off.
The boy loves his fruit in an unholy way.
We've moved
Amanda and I finally moved into what is an (obviously) incomplete but far more comfortable home on Wordpress. We’ll be doing a lot of cleaning and remodeling but for now I just wanted to say hey and all that yahoo. If you were subscribed to the site at our old home you may want to re-subscribe here. Otherwise, consider yourself welcome and we’ll be back after these messages

The rib bone is connected to…
We’ve been busy.
A one-year-old leaves very little time for the things we were used to doing. This was made abundantly clear during our recent WEEKEND OFF!!!! (Thanks Mom). More on that some other time maybe. But we had a great time and realized that we’d neglected many other areas of our life including here. So there.
A quick tale between work calls.
We have the smartest baby ever. It was mentioned somewhere that iJah was actually listening when Amanda was naming his parts because if you ask him where his head is he’ll show you. He knows head, eyes, belly, feet and toes (the same spot). He also knows where his tickle is.
…
Ask him and he’ll show you. He puts a hand on his side under his arm and gets ready to laugh.
