The "f" word

We don’t use the “f” word in our house.  We haven’t been able to for a while.  We discovered some time ago that Elijah understands it and responds to it.  To some degree we’re really, really proud that he’s able to discern word meaning and association, in the other; it’s a little difficult when we drop the “f-bomb” in front of him because it totally changes his behavior.  He stops what he’s doing and will refuse to do anything else.  It’s like it flips a switch in his brain.  The only  time we can say it any more is once he’s eaten enough that we’re satisfied.  Then he’s allowed to have a treat and the “f” word taboo is off.

The boy loves his fruit in an unholy way.
