Ijah and I had our first picnic today! We packed up, got some fried chicken, and headed towards the lake. Although he did enjoy the chicken and mashed potatoes from there he was a little lost…"what do we do now?" he seemed to ask. After looking at some sticks and leaves he decided it was time to go and promptly climbed to the stroller as if to say "lets roll". He did great and although it was obviously more exciting for me he humored me well and had fun squishing the cornbread to mush.
From there it was off to the little park playground, which we found inhabited by about 25 rowdy 4th graders. Ijah loved watching them run around like little nut jobs. They retreated from the babyswings and gave just enough space for safety. It was awesome. Eventually the little hellions went back to class and we were free to wander without fear of being squashed. After a bit of an episode while he was walking around the benches Ijah found that he really enjoyed playing in the sand.
So the firsts continue for Elijah and I. Today we chalked up a few, picnics, bench walking, sand playing, and dumping Ijahs sandy shoes all over his bedroom floor… Live and learn right?

Hurray for sunny days, chicken and sand!
