First Night

We let the cats into the bedroom for the first time since they were kittens. More accurately; since we discovered that they liked to eat cloths and sheets. Sometimes they’re more like goats. But with Amanda home for the week (and next) and a recent push by both of us to keep stuff straighter around the house, Amanda figured we’d let them spend the afternoon with full house access including the bedroom and see how they behaved. They did so well – they spent the whole day and evening sleeping on the bed – we decided to let them stay in there overnight.

I imagine this – like some many other little things – is training for the impending arrival of a baby. It started out great with the cats climbing on the bed and settling down… kinda. After we got that worked out and started to drift off they started climbing around on the window sill and the bed and the night stand. This cycle happened a few times; drift off, cats wake me up, drift off, cats wake me up, drift off, cats sound like they’re digging a hold in the floor… Eventually they stayed quiet long enough for me to fall asleep, but I woke up every two hours or so throughout the night to check on them. They were sleeping fine. The alarm went off this morning and they got up with me.

Training.
