Ijah is officially walking…like across the room walking. I have yet to capture it on video. But it happens…it happen even more if there is a dog in the room. He loves dogs.
First sucker…pretty sure he’s more excited about this than walking. I’m just glad he kind of tossed it on the way home, eliminating the need for me to pry it out of his sticky fingers…
By the way, getting back into the blogging groove here, so forgive the absence and know that we will be posting more

I don't normally approve of food-face kid pictures. This is my exception
We don’t use the “f” word in our house. We haven’t been able to for a while. We discovered some time ago that Elijah understands it and responds to it. To some degree we’re really, really proud that he’s able to discern word meaning and association, in the other; it’s a little difficult when we drop the “f-bomb” in front of him because it totally changes his behavior. He stops what he’s doing and will refuse to do anything else. It’s like it flips a switch in his brain. The only time we can say it any more is once he’s eaten enough that we’re satisfied. Then he’s allowed to have a treat and the “f” word taboo is off.
The boy loves his fruit in an unholy way.
Amanda and I finally moved into what is an (obviously) incomplete but far more comfortable home on Wordpress. We’ll be doing a lot of cleaning and remodeling but for now I just wanted to say hey and all that yahoo. If you were subscribed to the site at our old home you may want to re-subscribe here. Otherwise, consider yourself welcome and we’ll be back after these messages

Ijah and I had our first picnic today! We packed up, got some fried chicken, and headed towards the lake. Although he did enjoy the chicken and mashed potatoes from there he was a little lost…"what do we do now?" he seemed to ask. After looking at some sticks and leaves he decided it was time to go and promptly climbed to the stroller as if to say "lets roll". He did great and although it was obviously more exciting for me he humored me well and had fun squishing the cornbread to mush.
From there it was off to the little park playground, which we found inhabited by about 25 rowdy 4th graders. Ijah loved watching them run around like little nut jobs. They retreated from the babyswings and gave just enough space for safety. It was awesome. Eventually the little hellions went back to class and we were free to wander without fear of being squashed. After a bit of an episode while he was walking around the benches Ijah found that he really enjoyed playing in the sand.
So the firsts continue for Elijah and I. Today we chalked up a few, picnics, bench walking, sand playing, and dumping Ijahs sandy shoes all over his bedroom floor… Live and learn right?
